A Solar Sales Consultant (SSC) is a sales representative hired by a company to sell its solar products and services.
SSCs need to understand the sales process, including how to identify a potential customer, how to assess a customer’s solar needs, and how to design, install, and service the solar products that a company sells.
They also need to understand the solar industry, including how to sell to businesses, homeowners and consumers, and how to sell to new installations vs.
retrofitting existing homes and businesses.
SSCs need to have excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Solar Sales Consultant who is passionate about renewable energy and wants to make a difference. The Solar Sales Consultant will be responsible for generating new business by identifying and developing relationships with potential customers. The Solar Sales Consultant will also be responsible for providing information to customers about solar energy options and helping them to understand the benefits of solar energy.
Sommelier Duties:
- Develop new business opportunities by working with customers, wholesalers, and general contractors
- Identify market segments and prospects to develop sales plans
- Advise customers about product features and applications
- Promote company products through telemarketing, cold-calling, email, and direct mail
- Closes sales by meeting with potential customers and by negotiating contracts
- Provides guidance on selecting, installing, and maintaining products
- Collects payments, and is responsible for all aspects of the business
- Develops new product lines and markets products
- Develops and executes marketing plans
- Prepares reports for management, and analyzes market data
- Creates sales forecasts and budgets
Sommelier Responsibilities:
- Research, qualify, and close sales opportunities, managing customer relationship throughout sales process
- Prepare, present, and close sales contracts and negotiate terms

Requirements And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 2+ years’ proven experience solar power/renewables sales
- Strong knowledge of residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar, energy storage, and related technologies
- Effective at working independently and under pressure to meet goals and deadlines
