STEM Teacher Job Description

A STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) teacher is a person who has completed a teaching credential program and spent a minimum of three years teaching in a public school.

STEM teachers are educators that teach students about STEM-related skills and concepts.

STEM Teacher Duties:

• Recruit, hire, develop, manage, and retain diverse, motivated, qualified teaching team
• Provide instruction to students using appropriate techniques, materials, and assessments
• Provide direct instruction to students and monitor student progress
• Communicate with students, parents, and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner
• Ensure students are seated, following procedures, and following daily schedule
• Provide support, assistance, and assistance to students as needed
• Prepare and maintain daily lesson plans and objectives for each class
• Ensure that students are following classroom rules
• Provide feedback to teachers, parents, and administrators on student performance
• Provide remediation to students as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

STEM Teacher Responsibilities:

• Design curriculum for hands-on classes, such as physical, chemical, biological, and mathematical sciences, mathematics, and computer applications
• Provide students with information and activities that promote critical thinking and problem solving and encourage them to become life-long learners
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and maintain classrooms, labs, and facilities
• Keep current with trends and best practices in education
• Actively participate in school and community activities

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field
• 5+ years’ teaching experience
• Demonstrated success in teaching STEM-related subjects (math, science, or technology)
• Excellent written and communications skills; ability to present complex information in clear and engaging ways
