A supply planner is a corporate leader or manager who is responsible for planning, analyzing, and directing the supply of raw materials, semi-finished and/or finished products, and services.
Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Supply Planner who can help us with our inventory and purchasing. The right candidate will have experience in forecasting and managing inventory levels. They will be able to work closely with our suppliers to ensure that we have the products we need when we need them. Supply Planner Duties:
- Review item requests for supplies; create and maintain item inventories; conduct periodic audits and complete inventories
- Understand financial implications of supply pricing
- Develop and implement purchasing policies
- Develop cost projections for planned projects
- Identify and establish relationships with local suppliers and manufacturers
- Monitor current and forecasted budget
- Track inventory budget and forecast
- Manage warehouse
Supply Planner Responsibilities:
- Utilize up-to-date knowledge of current market conditions, including raw materials, technology, and production methods, to develop products and costs
- Maintain current knowledge of policies, regulations, and customer requirements for product development
- Develop and revise product specifications, requirements, and budgets
- Manage vendor relationships, including bidding, contract negotiations, purchase orders, and expediting
- Utilize computer-assisted data analysis software to complete product costing and feasibility studies
- Develop and implement inventory control, supply, and distribution plans while staying within budget
- Plan materials and production schedules, including forecasting, planning, and order entry
- Maintain accurate and timely records of inventory and production
- Create and maintain cost models, including material balancing, commodity price index, and formula analysis
- Perform purchasing, inventory, and receivables functions
- Conduct cost analyses
Requirements And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field
- 2+ years’ proven experience in a supply chain planning role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to develop supply chain strategies
- Knowledge of domestic and international product supply networks
- Strong working knowledge of Excel
