Tractor Driver Job Description

A tractor driver is a driver who operates a tractor in a farm.

A driver of a tractor needs good vision, physical strength, and good hearing.

Tractor drivers that tend to multiple farms need to have good communication skills.

They need to communicate with the farmers and follow all instructions.

Drivers may drive their tractors on public roads and highways and may need to negotiate traffic.

Tractor drivers need good physical strength since they are constantly standing in one position, driving.

Drivers must be physically able to lift a heavy tractor and load or unload products.

They may also be required to push or pull heavy loads.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an experienced Tractor Driver to operate a variety of farm vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include transporting crops and equipment, conducting routine maintenance and repairs, and completing paperwork. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and experience driving farm vehicles.

Tractor Driver Duties:

• Direct or supervise the operation of heavy equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles, such as fixing breaks and replacing tires
• Pack, load, unload, and haul freight to and from warehouses, terminals, and other locations
• Collect, route, and deliver mail
• Leverage computers and mobile devices to access onboard systems, download information, and manage documents
• Maintain proper documentation of work
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and maintenance

Tractor Driver Responsibilities:

• Deliver, align, and load tractors with trailers and freight, and perform other duties as assigned
• Operate a heavy truck, tractor-trailer, tractor, or other vehicle, to transport people or objects by road and off-road
• Operate, drive, and maintain a variety of powered and nonpowered vehicles, such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, graders, and other earth-moving equipment
• Operate a variety of heavy construction equipment

Requirements And Skills:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years tractor driving experience on tractors with loaders, backhoes, or attachments
