Web Technician Job Description

A Web technician is an IT professional who maintains or troubleshoots an organization’s technology systems.

Web technicians typically are highly trained computer professionals with years of experience in Windows networking and server administration, as well as desktop support.

Web technicians should have a thorough knowledge of operating systems and applications, security, hardware, networking, backup and disaster recovery, and troubleshooting.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Web Technician to help us maintain our website and keep it running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have experience in web development and web design, and will be able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Web Technician Duties:

• Create and develop websites and web applications using PHP, HTML, MySQL, JavaScript, and other scripting languages
• Develop and maintain web content
• Develop web marketing campaigns
• Operate web servers
• Troubleshoot web server problems

Web Technician Responsibilities:

• Maintain and develop multiple websites, periodic and on-going updates to core systems, and data backups
• Establish and maintain web content, including event listings, news, and blogs
• Decide on and implement appropriate technology to meet business needs
• Optimize website performance, and troubleshoot problems and errors
• Develop and maintain scripts and programming languages
• Provide technical support for website and other business applications
• Research and propose new features and functionality
• Establish and maintain business system data, including sales, inventory, and accounting
• Oversee in-house IT department’s efficiency and performance
• Work with vendors on upgrades and technology implementation
• Identify and implement new technology solutions to reduce operating costs
• Collaborate with web development team to develop high-quality content
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical policies and procedures
• Implement and test web technologies

Requirements And Skills:

• BA/BS degree
• Experience in Web development
• Experience with Drupal (preferred)
• Experience with HTML
• Experience with CSS
• Experience with CSS3
• Experience with jQuery
• Experience with PHP
