Yard Worker Job Description

A yard worker is someone who works at a large manufacturing plant or distribution center where large items are loaded or unloaded.

A typical yard worker will be involved with moving large items around the yard, such as cars or trucks, and assisting customers with loading and unloading items.

Yard workers may work in a production area or in customer service.

Yard workers may be required to lift, carry, move, and place large items.

They may also be required to sort items or move them to another location in the yard.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Yard Worker to help us maintain our property. The ideal candidate will have experience in landscaping and gardening, and will be able to work independently.

Yard Worker Duties:

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and machinery
• Ensure quality in work performed while following safety procedures
• Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies
• Tires, oils, and oil filters

Yard Worker Responsibilities:

• Operate commercial or industrial equipment to load, unload, store, or transport materials or products
• Operate machines and other mechanical equipment, including hand tools, such as shovels, picks, and rakes, and powered tools such as jacks, forklifts, and tractors
• Perform grading, paving, or mixing duties to level or prepare surfaces for construction or roofing, or to maintain grade slopes, including work with asphalt or cement
• Perform cleaning and janitorial work, such as sweeping or scrubbing floors with brooms, mops, or vacuum cleaners, washing windows, walls, and doors, and cleaning gutters
• Maintain outdoor grounds and landscaping, including watering and tending to plants and trimming shrubs and bushes
• Perform minor repair and maintenance of construction, landscaping, or cleaning machinery and equipment
• Work in teams with other

• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability (physical, mental, and skill) to perform manual and repetitive tasks
• Ability to climb ladders and walk on uneven surfaces
• Pass pre-employment drug screening
