Aromatherapist Job Description

Aromatherapists are individuals who practice a therapy in which essential oils are diluted and inhaled, or rubbed on the skin.

Essential oils are extracted from plants or trees.

Most oils do not smell the same as the plant they come from.

Essential oils are extracted by distilling the plants or trees and then either chemical engineering or a steam distillation process is used.

Essential oils are extracted using standardized methods.

Essential oils can also be extracted by maceration, which is extracting the oil by soaking the plant in oil.

Plants can also be pressed and the oil is extracted.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Aromatherapist to join our team and help us provide our clients with the best possible experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of essential oils and their benefits, and be able to create custom blends that meet our clients’ needs. Aromatherapist Duties:

• Attend to client needs, including preparing aromatherapy oils, giving massages, and providing information about aromatherapy
• Collect and analyze client information
• Understand client’s spiritual/emotional needs and concerns
• Explain the uses and benefits of aromatherapy oils and massages
• Develop and maintain positive client relationships
• Provide referrals for services or products
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Aromatherapist Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and healthy spa environment
• Provide excellent customer service to existing and new clients
• Assisting clients with skin care regimens
• Assisting clients with relaxation techniques
• Assisting clients with personal consultations
• Maintaining inventory and supplies
• Perform other departments’ duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s level education in aromatherapy or related field
• Experience working with essential oils
• Knowledge of carrier oils and their use
• Knowledge of herbal formulas
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with patients and employees
