Band Manager Job Description

A band manager is someone that works closely beside a band member, or band, to help achieve goals and plans in their career.

A band manager is often responsible for marketing, promotion, booking, and budgets.

A band manager usually works alone on a day to day basis.

However, band managers often have an assistant to help manage communications between the manager and the band members.

As a band manager, you will often work in an office setting.

You will likely be surrounded by other band managers and other employees.

Because a band manager works alone, they may need to attend meetings or events without supervision.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Band Manager to help us with our musical career. We need someone who is organized and can help us keep track of our gigs, bookings, and finances. If you have experience in the music industry, we’d love to hear from you!

Band Manager Duties:

• Set performance standards, designate duties and responsibilities, and collaborate regularly with band members
• Inspire musicians to strive for excellence and excellence, maintain a positive atmosphere, and help the band maintain a consistent level of performance
• Promote goodwill by modeling professional behavior
• Advise band members on career and professional development
• Attend to daily administrative operations, such as checking and logging equipment, keeping track of band expenses, ordering supplies, and ordering food for band members
• Develop and maintain close, professional relationships both with band members and other managers
• Support the band’s demographic goals
• Lead the band on a national and international level
• Keep abreast of changing trends in the industry
• Proactively anticipate potential problems and solve them before they become issues

Band Manager Responsibilities:

• Identify and recruit musicians, vocalists, and stage technicians, and oversee their rehearsals and performances, including scheduling, budgeting, and establishing/executing performance plans
• Manage staffing requirements to ensure adequate personnel to execute performance plans
• Assist with the marketing, promotion, and fundraising of musical events
• Provide operational, managerial, and logistical support to band members
• Negotiate and carry out contracts with touring or performing venues and clubs

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in music or music education
• 3+ years experience in band management
• Ability to manage and motivate band members, ensuring that they practice and perform regularly
• Knowledge of musical materials and methods, and ability to interpret musical notation
• Knowledge of band programs and music curricula
