Cardiovascular Surgeon Job Description

A cardiovascular surgeon is a medical doctor who specializes in surgery of the heart, blood vessels, or esophagus.

These surgeons generally perform corrective heart surgery, surgery of the esophagus, and coronary artery bypass surgery.

A cardiovascular surgeon is a medical doctor who has completed four years of medical school and five years of surgical residency, followed by a two-year fellowship or subspecialty training.

Cardiovascular surgeons are also referred to as heart surgeons.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Surgeon to join our team. You will be responsible for performing a variety of complex surgical procedures to treat heart and blood vessel conditions. Cardiovascular Surgeon Duties:

• Perform cardiovascular surgeries
• Develop and implement surgical techniques and procedures for cardiovascular medicine
• Perform routine and scheduled examinations and surgical procedures
• Perform medical diagnosis
• Judge the appropriate treatment
• Perform operative and diagnostic procedures
• Perform invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures
• Perform coronary bypass surgery
• Perform diagnostic and operative procedures on valvular heart disease
• Perform cardiac and thoracic ultrasound imaging
• Perform cardiac catheterization,  electrophysiology, pacing, failure and fibrillation sugary
• Perform atrial surgery
• Perform heart surgery
• Perform vascular surgery
• Perform thoracic surgery
• Perform cardiothoracic surgery
• Perform pediatric cardiac surgery
• Perform congenital heart surgery

Cardiovascular Surgeon Responsibilities:

• Perform procedures within a sterile operating environment, including cardiac catheterization, aortic aneurysm repair, valve replacement, and minimally-invasive approaches
• Establish and maintain appropriate and efficient working relationships with all members of the care team, including nurses, perfusionists, radiologists, and other specialists
• Consult with patients, their families, and other members of the care team
• Develop and implement original research studies that advance research, knowledge, and patient care
• Submit and approve clinical research protocol, protocol amendments, and study reports
• Participate in clinical research governance activities to maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Perform medical staff and hospital committee responsibilities
• Inform, educate, and collaborate with other clinicians on clinical procedures, diagnostic approaches, treatment protocols, and outcomes
• Participate in educational programs to present educational sessions at medical meetings, conferences, and symposia

Requirements And Skills:

• Doctorate in surgery, anesthesiology
• Certification in Cardiovascular Disease Surgery
• Subspecialty accreditation in Cardiovascular Disease
• Current license to practice medicine or surgery in the 50 states or the District of Columbia
• Current membership in professional societies
