CNC Machinist Job Description

CNC stands for Computer Numerically Controlled.

CNC machinists are highly skilled machinists who design and develop automated machinery for manufacturing plants.

They are computer experts that build and modify components and creates parts using computer-aided design software and other machinery.

CNC machinists are typically employed by manufacturing companies and are responsible for making, repairing, and maintaining components.

They analyze blueprints, create detailed technical drawings, and cut metal using computer numerical control machines.

CNC Machinist Duties:

• Complete CNC milling, turning and grinding machines parts, performing internal, external, and reverse machining operations
• Perform dimensional measurements, using calipers, Vernier’s, calipers, micrometers, and height gages
• Operate machine tooling, including fixtures and cutting tools
• Conduct routine machine maintenance
• Follow safety procedures and observe all instructions
• Perform other duties as needed

CNC Machinist Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC machining centers, including modifying programs for the machines process
• Perform setup, operation, and maintenance of machinery, including adherence to safety standards
• Perform pre- and post-processing of parts
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments
• Maintain production equipment, tools, and facilities
• Assist in other areas of organization as needed

Requirements And Skills:

• Proven experience as CNC Machinist
• Strong attention to detail (including accuracy of workmanship and adherence to quality standards)
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong math and computer skills
• Ability to work effectively with other employees
