Coroner is a person who investigates deaths, usually at sudden and unexpected events.

A coroner is a specially trained doctor that will examine the dead body and make medical opinions about cause of death.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a coroner to determine the cause of death of the victim.

Coroner Duties:

  • Prepare death certificates
  • Obtain and analyze evidence
  • Conduct examinations and interviews
  • Advise on litigation and legal matters
  • Prepare reports
  • Degree in medical field required
  • Certification and/or experience in conducting autopsies

Coroner Responsibilities:

  • Attend to and perform autopsies and other laboratory duties; respond to all notifications of suspicious deaths, accident scenes, and other incidents
  • Screen all suspicious deaths, compile preliminary case information, and initiate investigation
  • Interpret and apply medical knowledge to cause of death
  • Prepare autopsy reports, death certificates, and toxicology reports
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in forensic science or related field
  • 2+ years experience in forensic pathology
  • Knowledge of professional standards and ethics
  • Experience performing autopsies
