Health Educator Job Description

A health educator is a professional whose job it is to spread health education.

Health Educator Duties:

• Provide on-site health screenings and health education sessions for employees and guests
• Develop and distribute educational materials
• Consult with employees on individual health issues
• Attend staff meetings, employee meetings, and other group meetings, as well as create and deliver presentations
• Support the coordination of activities with other department staff
• Design and implement employee wellness programs
• Support wellness campaigns and events
• Perform clerical duties as needed

Health Educator Responsibilities:

• Identify and refer patients to health education programs which will help them achieve their personal health goals
• Provide one-on-one health education and ongoing problem-solving guidance
• Create, implement, and evaluate patient- and peer-oriented health education programs which promote positive health behavior change
• Provide training and mentoring to health education specialists
• Maintain ongoing communication with patients, families, other health professionals, and organizations which support them
• Design and implement health-related educational campaigns
• Assist in developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies
• Develop and maintain tracking systems to capture data and assess program effectiveness

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in health education, health administration, or health related field
• 2+ years of health educator experience in a healthcare setting
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills
• Knowledge of healthcare delivery models and systems, and ability to
