Job Brief:
We are looking for a Medical Technologist to work in our hospital’s lab. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical science and be able to work independently.
Medical Technologist Duties:
- Perform accurate and timely testing on specimens for clinical diagnoses, receiving, organizing, and accessing data, and performing routine maintenance on highly complex equipment
- Evaluate, analyze, and report test results to patients and physicians
- Prepare specimens for testing by processing, obtaining, and labeling specimens
- Perform calibrations, adjustments, and maintenance on equipment
- Maintain confidentiality and strict ethical standards at all times
- Provide support to other diagnostic lab personnel
- Interact with patients, physicians, and other medical professionals
- Train and educate new staff members
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with others
- Participate in ongoing education and professional activities
Medical Technologist Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative testing on bodily fluids, tissues, and cells
- Assist in performing quality control over testing procedures and specimens
- Conduct research and develop new test methods
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing on samples of body fluids, tissue, and cells, including blood, urine, stool, bone marrow, and body fluid cultures
- Conduct proficiency testing on laboratory equipment and personnel
- Coordinate with pathologists and other medical personnel on diagnostic testing
- Perform specimen processing, including centrifugation, staining, and preservation
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain skills and update knowledge base
- Assist in laboratory and hospital research projects
- Other duties as assigned
