NOC Technician Job Description

A NOC Technician is responsible for maintaining a computer network.

A NOC Technician can create, repair, and maintain hardware and software.

Some responsibilities include replacing hardware and replacing software or firmware.

Other responsibilities include backing up critical data, installing and configuring software, configuring network security, and overseeing operations.

NOC Technicians may work independently or as part of a team.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a NOC Technician who can help us with our network. The ideal candidate will have experience working with routers, switches, and other networking equipment. They will also be able to troubleshoot network problems and provide support to our users.

NOC Technician Duties:

• Maintain a high quality of service by accepting responsibility for network issues according to company regulations
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade all operating systems, applications, and hardware
• Maintain, manage, and upgrade all network devices
• Maintain, manage, and upgrade all network cabling
• Maintain and upgrade all security devices
• Provide on call service as needed
• Optimize network performance to meet company goals

NOC Technician Responsibilities:

• Work with NOC analysts and engineers to develop, document, and maintain operational procedures for systems and applications, both hardware and software
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance problems, and collaborate with other network service departments to ensure maximum uptime and accessibility for all users
• Perform capacity planning, network performance support, and data backup and recovery
• Monitor and administer server and network operating systems
• Implement, manage, and test new network technologies
• Perform routine hardware and software maintenance
• Input, analyze, and correct network statistics
• Perform network design and testing
• Perform network documentation procedures
• Perform network implementation

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, or a related field
• 2+ years related experience
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Ability to resolve complex problems
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
• Outstanding communication skills
