Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Radiation Therapist to work with us in our cancer center. The ideal candidate will have experience working with cancer patients and will be able to provide them with the best possible care.
Radiation Therapist Duties:
- Understand the purpose and objective of radiation therapy treatments
- Read and follow patient case histories and determine course of treatment
- Explain treatments to patients, their families, and referring physicians
- Screen and administer X-ray imaging tests
- Use digital X-ray imaging equipment
- Supervise and direct radiation therapy technicians, x-ray technologists and nurses
- Perform all patient care functions independently
- Make daily entries concerning patient treatment
- Develop treatment protocols
- Plan, coordinate, and implement radiation treatment program for specialty hospitals, community hospitals, and clinics
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Radiation Therapist Responsibilities:
- Assist Radiation Therapy Therapist with daily radiation therapy treatments
- Assist with maintaining radiation equipment
- Perform administrative duties such as helping patients schedule appointments, answering phones, and scheduling and assisting physicians
- Attend continuing education classes to stay up to date on the latest techniques and technologies
- Help patients with equipment set-ups and orientations
- Complete required laboratory and administrative tasks
- Develops treatment plans to provide patients the best care possible
- Assist with department activities as needed
Requirements And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy or related field
- 2+ years experience in radiation therapy
- Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
- Knowledge of radiation safety practices required
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
