Radiologic Technologist Job Description

A radiologic technologist, or x-ray technician, is a healthcare professional who performs imaging procedures such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, and ultrasound.

A radiologic technologist works under the supervision of a radiologist, a physician who specializes in the use of imaging technologies.

Radiographers usually earn an associate’s degree in radiography or an associate’s degree in radiologic technology and to become certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Radiologic Technologist Duties:

• Perform X-rays and scans of airport patients
• Create, edit, order, and log patient information
• Maintain proper inventory and disposal of equipment
• Perform quality control checks
• Perform administrative duties

Radiologic Technologist Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic radiographic examinations on patients according to accepted procedures and policies
• Prepares and maintains radiographic equipment
• Completes patient records according to accepted practice standards
• Maintains operating logs and billing records
• Performs quality checks of radiographs
• Attends continuing education classes
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of an accredited Interscholastic Radiologic Technology program
• Current state licensure
• Strong math and science skills
• Advantageous if fluent in one of the following languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, Hindi
