Sushi Chef Job Description

Sushi chefs are Japanese workers who prepare and serve sushi and sashimi.

Sushi chefs are employed by restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, and other types of establishments to prepare and serve sushi and sashimi.

Sushi chefs work carefully, as sushi is a delicate food that must always be served fresh.

Sushi chefs also prepare and serve other types of Japanese food, such as yakitori (Japanese-style grilled skewer), sukiyaki (a pot stew of meat and fish), and gyoza (Japanese-style dumplings).

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a sushi restaurant and be able to prepare sushi to our high standards. If you are passionate about sushi and are looking for an opportunity to showcase your skills, we want to hear from you!

Sushi Chef Duties:

• Develop menus for the restaurant and develop recipes
• Hire and train sushi chefs as needed
• Maintain health standards
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen
• Provide training
• Ensure all documentation is kept up to date
• Oversee all food safety standards

Sushi Chef Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment in compliance with current safety regulations
• Prepare sushi and sashimi in accordance with company standards
• Provide guests with sushi, sashimi, and makimono in a friendly, efficient, and courteous manner
• Assist staff and managers in resolving complaints or issues

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts or related field with 3 years of relevant experience; extensive sushi experience preferred
• Ability to communicate in Japanese preferred, but not required
• Ability to consistently deliver high quality food in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to maintain food safety practices at all times
• Ability to work a flexible
